Extended Extraordinary Regulatory Framework for Vocational Qualifications

Today Ofqual has published the Extended Extraordinary Regulatory Framework (EERF) for vocational qualifications for 2020-21. CCEA Regulation is aligning to this framework for regulation of assessment and awarding arrangements for vocational qualifications for 2020-21, in addition to the CCEA Regulation General Conditions of Recognition.

CCEA Statement following the Education Minister’s announcement on 2020/21 Examinations

Today CCEA received instructions from the Department of Education, outlining the Minister’s decisions in relation to the delivery of GCSE, AS and A Level qualifications for the academic year 2020/21. CCEA will now implement the arrangements required to ensure that learners in Northern Ireland have the opportunity to achieve their GCSE, AS and A Level qualifications.

Updated General Conditions of Recognition as of 1 October 2020

We previously carried out a joint consultation with Qualifications Wales and Ofqual on a number of changes to our respective General Conditions of Recognition (GCoR). We announced our decisions on 20 February 2020 and confirmed that the majority of changes would come into effect on 1 October 2020.

This summer has been extraordinary for everyone involved in awarding vocational and technical qualifications. It has been an anxious time for learners and has involved a huge amount of hard work for centres and awarding organisations (AOs). Everyone in the sector has worked collaboratively to issue valid and reliable VQ results to learners in order for them to progress onto the next stage of their education or into work. It is a significant achievement that many certificates were issued for many different qualifications.

CCEA launches Wellbeing Hub for Primary, SEN and Post Primary Learning

Ofqual announces consultation on the arrangements for the assessment and awarding of vocational, technical and other general qualifications in 2020 to 2021
